It took just under three years (a chapter a night, except for Sundays--I read a psalm then), and there is a lot, and I mean, a LOT, of material never read during Sunday mass. I also know first hand, because my previous Lenten 'sacrifice' had been to spend two years reading the daily readings as published in the bulletin (and in the back of the Bible), as my parish priest told us that would take us through the cycle and had suggested it. There was lots in there that 12 years of Catholic school did not expose me to in all those theology classes. <br /><br />That's why now I just go the Stations of the Cross on Friday night during Lent.
